I just started on ScreenCastOmatic and found that I had to turn up my speaker / microphone volume all the way up in order to obtain a audible screencast. It was still a little low. In order to adjust the sound higher, I needed to adjust the actual microphone volume control. It was easy. The steps are listed below
1) Right Click on your speaker icon on the taskbar of your computer
2) Select "Recording Devices"
3) Click on the Microphone Device that you are using in the Sound dialog box that appears
4) Click "Properties" in the Sound dialog box
5) Click the "Levels" tab in the Properties dialog box..
6) Adjust the sound slider to a higher level, 100 percent works. Adjust as necessary for different loudness levels.
