BookMarkTutoring.com(Santa Rosa, CA, August 30, 2014), a provider of on-call, on-site, online and in-person tutoring and training services, has announced Algebra for Fashion Designers. The book, scheduled for official release in October, 2014, provides teachers and instructors a unique way to interest students in mathematics and its applications.
According to Mark Stansberry, illustrator and writer of the book, "Today's math books are often absent in a focus. When I teach students math, the first question students often ask is what it is good for? Although I could give a very general answer, such as personal financial management, I often provide an answer that is relevant to a specific career or personal interest, such as fashion design."
Mark added that ":algebraic functions are often the basis for patterns used in fabric and dress design. Before I create a sketch, I sometimes review the graphs of math functions to decide on a pattern design. Parabolas, defined by the general equation y = x2, are used in many fashion designs and the basis for many different types of patterns."
Algebra for Fashion Designers, besides being a fun way to learn math, is also a serious math book. The content of the book was designed to follow the guidelines of the United States Algebra Common Core Standards Besides over 30 fashion illustrations, the book also provides all the formulas, rules, procedures, example problems and solutions needed to become proficient in Algebra One.
