May Flowers in Washington

America's H1-B Corporate Busisiness Model
Is it  really a rose garden?
In May, the immigration debate in Congress is expected to become a major news story. The testimonies before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee are expected to fuel the controversy as well as bring forth those with major interests in the outcome.  Testimonies are expected  to be given by labor groups, high technology companies, educators and immigrant groups. as well as representatives of  cities, counties and states.

Besides all these groups intersts,  the Senate Judiciary Committee must also take into consideration the concerns of the  United States trade partners such as India, China and Mexico.  If immigration policy does not go the way these countries would like, these countries could alter their trade policies  with the United States.

Fears are that if the United States does not increase the number of foreign nationals allowed to work as engineers and computers engineers,  trade embargoes may ban the import of United States technology products into these countries.  For this scenario, Senators will have to consider whether the loss of trade with these countries will balance with the loss of  the majority of the remaining American high technology jobs to foreign nationals.
